ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) Applied in Speech & Language Therapy
An introduction to ACT and discovering we know more than we realise as SLTs
Following several years applying Positive Therapy/Psychology strategies Ruth, the Course Tutor attended ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) training and joined ACBS (Association for Contextual Behavioural Science).
This Study Day is about finding out more about ACT and considering ways of applying Mindfulness & ACT in SLT. Application in supporting families , social-emotional difficulties, Voice, Fluency , Adults coping with impact of disability, Autistic Adults.* ACT is especially useful for those living with chronic conditions.
How we support each other in a Team will also be covered. There is more of this in ARCs Strengthen Skills (Advanced Supervision Study Day) but the basics will be explored on this course.
Motivation and Mindsets for Change: making therapy programs successful
Join us for this Study Day focusing on exploring the keys to success in speech and language therapy programs.
Explore a range of effective strategies to motivate clients and develop mindsets for effective commitment and change.
Ruth the Course Leader has been interested in this area for some time. What makes the difference between success and failure in similar clients/families? Should we communicate differently about the point of therapy and goals? Are there ways of preventing relapse for clients with longer term conditions.
This Study Day is about sharing ideas, gaining insights into motivation and mindsets. There will be opportunities to network with colleagues in small group discussions.
