Assistants Hub

One of the 3 key areas for ARC Academy is a focus on the training and continuing professional development of Assistant Practitioners and those supporting them.

What does ARC offer for Assistants?

A CPD workshop – introduction to the HEE/RCSLT Support Workers Competencies Framework. This short workshop focuses on the new framework for support and development of Assistant Practitioners in SLT.

A Study Day for Assistant Practitioners. It has been designed to focus on the skills underpinning the HEE/RCSLT Support Workers Competencies Framework. This is about being a confident reflective practitioner, able to lead your own learning and demonstrate competencies. This focus on an underlying skillset means the Program is suitable for those working in different specialist areas in SLT – child/ adult/ universal/ educational services.

A Series of E-Learning short courses will be available in 2023 based around the RCSLT Assistants Competencies Framework including:

  • Introductory guide to the framework
  • Exploring the framework
  • The core competency profile
  • A “how to” guide on Work Based Learning
  • How to demonstrate your competencies

AND for those SLTs who are supporting assistants

A Study Day for those who support assistants in a team – A focused Study Day exploring the role of the SLT as supervisor, manager, lead when working with Assistant Practitioners
